The ingredients we use

Chios mastic gum

Chios mastic gum is the aromatic resin of Pistacia lentiscus var. Chia. Valued since ancient times, it is used in food supplements as well as oral-care and skin-care products. As a food supplement, mastic contributes to the normal function of the digestive system.

Mastic oil

Mastic oil is obtained from the resin by distillation. It is used in food supplements, toothpastes, creams and other cosmetics such as shampoos and soaps.

Probiotics

Some Masticlife supplements contain two probiotic cultures: Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus rhamnosus — bacteria that naturally live in the intestines and form part of the gut microbiome. They are commonly found in fermented foods and dairy products.

Prebiotics (inulin)

Inulin is a soluble prebiotic fibre from chicory root. As a prebiotic, it serves as “food” for the beneficial bacteria in the gut. Read more about inulin.

Silicon dioxide

Silicon dioxide is a natural substance found in many fruits, vegetables and other foods. It acts as a natural anti-caking agent, which is why we use a small amount to stop the mastic and inulin powder from clumping together. More on why we use silicon dioxide.

Magnesium stearate (vegetable)

Magnesium stearate is an additive used in supplement capsules to keep the ingredients from sticking to each other and to the manufacturing equipment, helping consistency and quality control. It can come from plant or animal sources — we use the vegetable form. More on magnesium stearate.

HPMC capsule

Masticlife capsules are HPMC capsules — clear, plant-derived vegan capsules with no preservatives and no sugar, corn, wheat or soy. We chose them to match the purity of natural Chios mastic.
