What is Masticlife Mastic Gum?

It is the natural resin from the mastic tree (Pistacia lentiscus var. Chia) — a small evergreen tree that has been carefully cultivated for thousands of years.

What makes mastic gum truly special? It comes exclusively from one unique place on Earth: a small region in the sunny south of the Greek island of Chios. This authentic PDO Chios mastic gum is the key ingredient in all Masticlife supplements and products. By using original raw materials and maintaining strict quality control, we ensure that every Masticlife product delivers the effectiveness and quality you expect.

Frequently asked questions

What Is Mastic Gum?

Mastic is a natural resin used since ancient times to support normal digestion, oral health, and more. It comes from the unique Chios variety of the mastic tree and is processed into raw “tears,” powder, and oil. You’ll find mastic as a key ingredient in Masticlife’s advanced dietary supplements, plus cosmetics, toothpastes, and mouthwashes.

How to Choose Mastic Gum?

The right choice depends on the effect you’re looking for.

  • Mastic tears are the original form and meant for chewing. They offer a unique woody-fruity taste and pleasant aroma. Many enjoy chewing mastic as a healthy daily habit. If you’re new to it, we’ll guide you on how to start.
  • Mastic capsules are modern supplements designed to deliver mastic’s benefits directly to your stomach. You can pick pure powder capsules or those enhanced with additional ingredients.
  • Mastic powder is easy to take and works not only in your digestive system but also in your mouth and esophagus.

No matter which form you choose, always ensure you get original, authentic mastic for the best results.

How to Take Mastic and What to Keep in Mind

Mastic is generally well tolerated. If you enjoy chewing it, you can chew it freely. For food supplements, stick to the recommended daily amount — usually no more than 2 grams of pure mastic per day.

A few practical notes:

(1) Mastic may lower blood pressure — mentioned for awareness, not as a benefit; if you have low blood pressure, keep an eye on it.

(2) Don't take mastic and probiotics at the same time, as it can reduce the effect of the probiotics; take live cultures at least 3 hours after mastic, or choose Mastic Vital Double Action, whose capsule-in-capsule design keeps them separate. Prebiotics such as inulin, on the other hand, pair well with mastic.

(3) If you feel heaviness or pressure in the stomach, take mastic at least 30 minutes before eating; this is more common in people with gastritis, reflux or Helicobacter pylori.

What Is the Difference Between Mastix, Masticha, Mastiha and Mastic?

The terms essentially refer to the same product and derive from the original Greek word μαστιχα. Variations in spelling and pronunciation occur due to language differences.

In Czech, the terms masticha and mastika are common, while in German it is referred to as Mastix and in English as mastic. In Turkish, the product is known as damla sakızı.
